Save up to 40% of heating costs
by adding insulated window shutters to your home.

Uniform construction codes of the last 25 years have brought most homes up to a standard of insulating values that have been satisfactory for walls, roofs and windows.

However, with rising fuel prices homeowners are searching for ways to further control their heating and cooling bills.

A careful analysis of the heat loss of your building will show that the greatest remaining gains to be made are by improving the heating or cooling resistance of the window areas.

Save up to 40% of heating costs by adding insulated window shutters to your home. Shuttering windows during the long winter nights is the next step to huge fuel savings. The most effective way of impeding this heating/cooling loss is to install shutters that are fitted with a layer of insulating foam material that will bring the R- value of each window to R-17.

Green America Heating Consultants offers two backing options (wooden and aluminum) for encasing the insulation that differ in style but all provide the same increase in insulating value. These designs use the louvered shutter type and are suitable for use on older or newer buildings.

These shutters are intended for exterior installation which will mean that window glass will not produce condensation.

Furthermore, shutters can be opened either by light activated devices or by crank mechanisms from the inside of the house. Shutters extend the life of windows and deter against vandalism and burglary.
